The Canmore Public Library is where ideas, friendships, and communities grow.
There is something quietly powerful about a public library, a place where lives converge, ideas take root, friendships form and a community’s collective story is written together. In the heart of the Bow Valley, the Canmore Public Library is precisely that kind of space: a free, welcoming gateway to knowledge, connection and belonging.
Why this matters
The campaign “Growing Our Library, Growing Our Community” embodies what the Library already is: the Canmore Library describes itself as “a place for books and beyond—where ideas grow, friendships form, and our community comes together.”
Every time a child joins tales for toddlers, or a teen opens their first trilogy, a neighbour borrows a drill, or a senior takes out a puzzle, the Canmore Public Library is living its mission. By giving now, you help ensure that the Library remains a hub for lifelong learning, creativity and community life.
The 2025 Endowment Fund Campaign
From November 1 through December 12, the Library’s 2025 Endowment Fund campaign is underway.
Here is what makes this year’s campaign special:
- Your donation will be matched up to $26,000, thanks to the generosity of local supporters: Elliott & Margie Bingham, Carla Cumming Sojonky, EGB Fabrication, the Carling-Bain Family, and the Friends of the Library.
- The Fund is held through Banff Canmore Foundation, enabling the Library Board to access trusted stewardship and expertise.
Giving is flexible:
- Donation online to the Canmore Public Library Endowment Fund
- By cheque (payable to Banff Canmore Foundation, memo “Canmore Public Library Fund”) – drop off at the Library or mail.
- With Tap-Pay at the Library’s front desk (for quick $20 gifts. *Note, we are unable to issue a tax receipt for Tap-Pay.
The goal is to build an endowment that supports the Canmore Public Library for generations, the principal remains intact, while investment earnings support programming, services, and outreach.
As part of the campaign, the Canmore Library has introduced its Library Champions: community members who share their stories about how the Canmore Library has enriched their lives — inspiring curiosity, strengthening connection and nurturing belonging in Canmore.
